Man found dead in Port Hardy






PORT HARDY - RCMP on the north island are investigating a suspicious death case. Someone discovered the man's body outside of an exit door at the Seawind Apartments on Granville Street in Port Hardy just after eight this morning. The 31year old moved to Port Hardy from the lower mainland just days ago with his wife and two children, though RCMP say they won't release his name until next of kin are notified. Police rushed to the home this morning after someone place a 911 call to paramedics. Investigators won't say why they consider the death suspicious, but sources tell /A\ News the man's body was discovered with knife wounds. RCMP say their investigation is in the early stages and won't confirm how the man died or if the investigation is a homicide. The crime scene was secured by Port Hardy RCMP early this morning. A forensic team began working on the scene shortly after the man was discovered constructing a tent over the body and searching the area around the home. Investigators from the Vancouver Island Major Crime Unit are now in Port Hardy, but it took several hours for them to arrive due to fog and had to drive to the north island town. RCMP say a forensic autopsy will be performed and until an exact cause of death is determined investigators will treat the case as suspicious.
