Camping Tents to Suit Different Weather Conditions

Camping, in general, means time for fun, enjoyment and relaxation. An important part of your preparation for camping includes having the right knowledge of the weather conditions of the campsite, because ignoring this can ruin your trip.
There are different types of camping tents available, from which you can choose the most suitable one depending on the length of your trip, weather conditions of the visiting area and the terrain.
Weather Based Camping Tents
Apart from the classification of the camping tents into family camping tents, solo camping tents, couple camping tents and the likes, they are also categorized on the basis of the time of the year in which they are utilized.
•  Minimalist Tents : These tents are the lightest in weights and can be used if you plan to camp in good weather conditions. These camping tents will also protect you from bugs and rain.
•  3 Season Tents : These would be a good option accessible, if you are planning your trip during the seasons of spring, summer and fall.

•  4 Season Tents : The four season camping tents are especially designed for severe weather conditions like snow, heavy winds. •  All Season Tents : They are also known as four- season convertible tents as they can be easily transformed into three-season tents by removing a pole or roof-panel. They can be used the whole year round. The family camping tents are typically all-season camping tents.
Some Basic Requirements
There are some other things to be considered while buying weather based camping tents:
•  Easy set-up : The camping tents, you buy, should be practically easy to set up, so that, you can without difficulty assemble them, even when it starts raining or while it gets dark. A-frame tents and dome tents are usually simple to set up.
•  Ventilation : Adequate ventilation is necessary in a camping tent. The mesh screens can keep out the bugs as well as the debris if it is windy.

Vaude Hogan Ultralite 1 in stormy weather

My Vaude Hogan Ultralite 1 filmed the morning after a windy wild camp on Knott, in the Lake District, UK. 22-23 August 2009. When we pitched the tents in the evening, the weather was calm, but during the night the wind picked up and was blasting the tent from the side. You can see the left hand side of the tent being blown in. The winds were perhaps 40-50mph. The tent held up OK, although some water came in due to the flysheet being blown in and touching the inner. It would have done better if not pitched side-on to the wind, but I didn't get to choose which direction the wind would come from!
