An inside and outside tour of my 3-man Snowtrekker hot tent and the stove I use in it, rigged for 2 people. I have been using the tent for about 3 years and its been good. For beginners to hot tenting this might give you some ideas for putting your rig together. Its only one way to go, and certainly there are many other hot tenting styles using different tent shapes and materials. This is store-bought gear, but many talented people with sewing and sheet metal skills make their own gear.

My Brother and I departing from YPIR (Port Pirie) to YCMM (Cummins Town) for a fly-in and airshow. The takeoff took slightly longer than normal due to the extra weight of a 4-man tent (kinda unnecessary for 2 people but its all we had), food and other stuff. Pilot: Sam Thomson Passenger: Ben Thomson Aircraft: Jabiru J-160D with Glass Cockpit T/O distance: approx 610m, normal distance in nil wind is approx 210m.

This heater is awesome! They throw ALOT of heat for their size, and they don't smoke, don't stink, and are cheap to run. They are designed to heat a 5-10 man tent full of soldiers in -50F to +60F temperatures....and believe me, they work great! Since switching over to the SHS from using my propane wall furnace, I have cut my heating costs by more than half. And it's easier to afford a few gallons of diesel than it is to come up with 0 for a tank of propane (just to watch most of the heat go out the chimney) For mine I built a 10" diameter ducting heat scavenger around the 3" diameter chimney pipe. I used 2 sections of the stainless steel chimney supplied with the heater for the two bottom sections by the burner chamber where it will have to take the most heat. Inside the 10" duct there is 3 foot sections of 3" ducting to serve as more surface area to scavenge more heat from the chimney.....There is a 12v "squirrel cage" fan with a section of 3" flexible aluminum duct going in to the heat scavenger where it blows air into the heat scavenger, around those 3" sections and blows the heat out the register at a pretty decent velocity....it works great, and it keeps the hot air moving throughout the place. The blower doesn't run out of hot air to blow out of that heat scavenger either!!! I recommend you READ the instruction manual on these, coz if you are an idiot you can cause a flash fire with these. NEVER attempt to light one or refuel the tank while it is still hot. NEVER ...
