Over the last two years I've walked into many tent communities. My first steps into Sacramento's Tent City [ Day 1 bit.ly Day 2 bit.ly ] I was literally shocked that this was America, yet at the same time overwhelmed that the growth of tent cities will become America's future. I'll never forget the day I walked into Nickelsville [bit.ly Nickelsville [bit.ly ]is a self-governed tent city encouraging real community for support and healing. Call me an old hippie if you want. I fell in love with this tent city model. It truly is gorgeous. But after reflection I saw something else. Nickelsville is a slap in our (homeless services) face. These people should not have to live homeless like this, and the reason they do is because we (homeless services) failed to help them. Point blank the only reason tent cities exist in the first place is because the shelter system is broken. Lily Au [bit.ly a housewife who was once helped by a homeless man and now helps fight homelessness, asked me to visit a tent city in Ann Arbor. A short walk from Braithwaite to Eel Crag, where we wild camped for the night. The weather was lovely, giving us a nice sunset. The following day was bad weather, thick clag until we got down into the valley. A wild camp in the Yorkshire Dales

I did a wild camp with David Murphy, the weather was forecast winds of 35-40mph with gusts upto 50mph with rain and thats what we got, we arrived at the summit of Whernside in pitch black fog and rain with a slight wind, time we got to the tarn where we were going to camp it was blowing a gale and bloody cold off being wet, the rain was lashing down, the time we pitched our tents we were both soaked to the skin all our gear had failed us and it was a bit of a relief getting in the tent and trying to dry the clothes, the voyager superlite was flattening out with the strong winds but the brandy put me to sleep and I slept through the whole night, we woke to a bit of cloud but it soon cleared and we got to see where we had camped all in all really good camping trip[ and lots learned from it.

My Brother and I departing from YPIR (Port Pirie) to YCMM (Cummins Town) for a fly-in and airshow. The takeoff took slightly longer than normal due to the extra weight of a 4-man tent (kinda unnecessary for 2 people but its all we had), food and other stuff. Pilot: Sam Thomson Passenger: Ben Thomson Aircraft: Jabiru J-160D with Glass Cockpit T/O distance: approx 610m, normal distance in nil wind is approx 210m.

Wainwright Fells Lake District - Wild Camp at Dale Head

The first leg of my three day trip. Starting at the foot of Catbells, walking over Catbells to Maiden Moor and High Spy. From High Spy I decended to Dale Head Tarn then back up to Dale Head itself, where I spent the night admiring the glorious sunset and sunrise. The tent used is a Terra Nova Laser Competition. I managed to get in the car 5 hours later than planned but all was forgotten once i arrived in the Lake District.
