Terra Marketing Group Working With The Edmonton Christmas Bureau

Terra Marketing Group, a growing Edmonton based Internet marketing firm, is working with The Christmas Bureau to provide food hampers to 15 large Edmonton families so they can feast on the holiday.

Company officials said they were proud to work with The Christmas Bureau, because it is one of the longest running and most respected nonprofit institutions in Edmonton.

They truly understand the effects of poverty at the local level, a company official said. They know who really needs help and how to help provide for them.

The company CEO and one of his coworkers will be personally be delivering the hampers on Christmas morning. The families each of which has roughly seven members will be selected by the staff of the Christmas Bureau.

We strongly believe that people have a right to have a traditional Christmas dinner, he said. And we believe that those of us who can afford to do so are obligated to help them when we can.

The food hampers contain everything needed for a traditional Christmas dinner including turkey, ham, vegetables, potatoes, cranberry sauce, soup, coffee, peanut butter, cookies, candy, marmalade, stuffing and butter.

Terra Marketing Group is an online firm that targets emerging niche marketplaces on the Internet. When they see a developing market, they evaluate the existing products and services, find ways to improve them and then seek to eventually dominate that particular marketplace.

Then, they set aside a certain amount of their profits for global charities including Samaritan's Purse and Kiva, and then volunteer their time for local organizations including The Mustard Seed food bank or Santas Anonymous.

We believe in being responsible corporate citizens and good neighbors to the people in the Edmonton community, the company official said. We don't want to have to think that there are people we could have helped who will go hungry on Christmas.

Terra Marketing Group has also purchased hundreds of games and toys that they will donate to Santas Anonymous to be given out on Christmas Eve to families who cannot afford to buy presents for their children.

We believe in the spirit of Christmas and want to make sure that children and families have a great traditional holiday, he said.

This is the first in a series of local hikes, in a tribute to Mr. John W. Robinson. He is a man who, while working as a teacher locally, hiked, researched and shared all he learned with us. He has books that tell all there is to know and find wonderful places long forgotten. In all, he spent over thirty years researching and detailing maps and logs on these places. Tracking down and talking to the last of the actual people who worked these mines, drove these roads, mined these rivers, or the next of ken who had the photo albums and stories we have all read. In all, he did what few others, "if any", have ever done, giving us the opportunity to see into the past and walk the same trails native Americans, miners, ranchers, cattle rustlers, bandit's and he himself once walked. To visit places once popular either for the gold they found, bear and deer they once hunted or the hundreds of places that once existed in the San Gabriel and San Bernardino mountains. I, myself have traveled over 75% of the San Gabriel mountain trails he has mapped and could NOT have done it, nor enjoyed it more without Mr. Robinson's work! I have barely scratched the surface of his other set of trails, the San Bernardino mountains and the first one, I was lost for half a day. But, fun and adventure are there for those willing to put in the reading AND the foot work. I have always wanted to hear this man speak of his life and or meet him and if anyone, or 'you yourself", Mr. John W. Robinson, happen ...
